                                    Pesticide tainted “organic” extract identified

                                    Hangzhou - While expanding its organic line, Skyherb is monitoring the organic ingredients market. During a recent market study, pesticide residues such as organophosphorines, organochlorines, carbamate and pyrethroid were found in some “organic” products of few suppliers.Organic foods are produced using methods of organic farming. In general, organic foods are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. Synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers are also not allowed, although certain organically approved pesticides may be used under limited conditions. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has strict guidelines on the regulation of pesticides. The EPA regulates the amount of each pesticide by setting a tolerance the tolerance is the amount of pesticide residue allowed to be in or on a particular organic food. The tolerances set by the EPA are rigorous and are exceeded less than 1% of the time.
